IDOU's story begins with its founder, Juliet, a woman in her thirties who prioritized her career, loved ones, and outdoor activities. Several years ago, while on a bike ride with her husband Denzel, they were both wearing reflective vests from the company Juliet worked for at the time. Tragically, Denzel was injured in an accident, and after investigating the incident, they discovered that the reflective vest provided no actual reflective ability when the wearer was bent over.

Denzel's unfortunate experience prompted Juliet to research the quality of reflective gear on the market. To her dismay, she found that many brands were selling ineffective products that compromised their customers' safety. Many of these products failed to provide an inclusive size range, and when they did, the sizing was misleading and not true to size. Furthermore, some brands had omitted essential features in order to save costs and expedite production.

Determined to prevent future accidents, Juliet specially designed a reflective vest for Denzel. However, as her daughter Ouida grew older, Juliet began to worry about Ouida's safety as well.
